What the guide covers: country systems, scholarship types, eligibility, academic rules and sports pathways.

What the guide covers

Five areas, each written as background reading before a family talks to an institution. We describe the mechanics of each area and the questions worth asking, not a list of promises.

AreaWhat you will findWhat it is for
Country guidesHow scholarships are organised in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and parts of EuropeComparing systems instead of single offers
Scholarship typesAthletic awards, academic awards, combined packages, need-based aidUnderstanding what is actually being offered
Eligibility and academicsTranscripts, test scores, credit requirements, amateur rulesChecking whether a candidate is admissible at all
Sports pathwaysRecruiting calendars, coach contact, video, showcases, evaluationPlanning a season of contact with universities
Influence and contextHow sport and education connect in different countries, and where the claims in marketing material usually breakReading an offer critically

What is included

  • Explanations of processes, written from public regulations.
  • Checklists of documents and questions to bring to an institution.
  • Comparisons of how the same requirement is handled in different countries.

What is not included

  • Applications, submissions or document handling.
  • Negotiation with coaches or universities on your behalf.
  • Guarantees of admission, funding or visa approval.

How to use it

Start with the country you are targeting, then read the scholarship type you are likely to receive, then the academic requirements. Only after those three steps does it make sense to plan contact with coaches: the order prevents months of work on an option that was never admissible.

Read carefully. A sports scholarship is an opportunity, not a promise. Awards, admission and team places are decided by the institutions and programmes themselves: no guide, service or fee can guarantee funding, a contract or a professional career. Always confirm requirements and deadlines directly with the school or programme you are applying to.
